Rachel Toback, MSW, MAT, QMHP, CHt
Welcome
My name is Rachel Toback, QMHP, MSW, MAT, CHt.
I am an aspiring somatic therapist and current program manager, educator and perpetual learner living and working in Portland, Oregon.
I am currently seeking employment to support my goal of clinical licensure where I can support my community with accessible therapeutic services and continue to develop my clinical skills.
What I do:
I provide therapy to individuals aged 14+, couples and families seeking increased insight, understanding and inspiration regarding their past and present to address mental health and relationship concerns.
The main methods I work with are Hakomi, a somatic therapy, and Hypnosis. I’m inspired and impacted by Parts Work, yoga therapy, attachment theory, trauma theory and critical social work theory.
The work I do is deeply relational, collaborative and exploratory.

Frequently asked questions
-
I am not a licensed therapist at this time although I will be pursuing licensure soon.
I have completed the schooling required to pursue clinical licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and will update this website accordingly as my own vibrant path winds me there.
-
Somatic therapy uses body sensations, gestures and postures as the entry point for mindful exploration. Rather than coming up with what to talk about cognitively, somatic therapy emphasizes the role of the body in leading us to the relevant content, memories, images or beliefs that can be addressed to heal old wounds and foster increased vibrancy.
-
The type of hypnosis I practice is meticulously consented, expansive and conversational. Non-violence and partnership are at the foundation of everything I practice. Hypnosis is safe, and as always we will proceed at the speed of trust. Hypnosis is an offering and always optional.
-
I am currently seeking employment in group practice where insurance is accepted. It is important to me that therapeutic services be accessible.
